Project 4.4, What I’m analyzing and why

So, if you couldn’t already tell, I am going to be analyzing paper bags! I think that out of all of the materials I come in contact with, this is a good one to analyze because it is a commonly used product at my store locations as well as at every single grocery store ever to exist, probably. What really got my attention, as I have mentioned briefly before, is how the mandate of the removal of plastic bags has almost caused a kick in the use of paper bags. I did not have the opportunity to work before the plastic bag ban was put in place but I have observed that most customers give me the excuse “I have bags in the car, can you please use brown paper bags for right now?” or “I forgot my reusable bags” or “I didn’t feel like bringing in my bag of reusable bags, I didn’t expect to get this much”… you get the picture. I just imagine that it has caused a huge increase in paper bags use which for better or for worse is unknown to me.

I could get into a whole spiel about the reusable bags too, but I will save that for another time and date. I am not in anyway wishing that plastic bags were still around, but I am curious and cynical about the paperbag and reusable bag production. It all just seems like an attractive way to make more money. Sorry Wegmans, I had to say it.
